Let us see an example to understand this

White to play and Win

White starts with Re4, attacking the bishop. Now, wherever the black moves, the black would lose his bishop

Variation 1: Bg3/bf2 The king can capture the bishop

Variation 2: Be1 Re1 captures the rook

Variation 3: Kf5/Kg6/Kf6 the rook will capture the bishop
