Chess Newsletter Issue 5

👋 Hi Chess Enthusiast

In Today’s Newsletter, we will learn about a middle game tactics called Fork

.

Fork

A Fork is a tactic in which a single piece attacks 2 or more pieces at the same time. Fork concept is also called as double attack

.

Let us understand this concept with an example

.

Can you find the knight move which can attack both king and the queen simultaneously?

.

Here, the white knight can go to e7 and can attack the black king on g8 and black queen on c6 at the same time, now after the black moves, white knight can capture the c6 queen for free. So, by going to E7, the white knight forks the queen and the king (See the image below)

.

The white knight now attacks both the black king and queen at the same time

.

I hope you are loving this tactic, let us do a couple of more puzzles

.

.
